About Gringo in Paradise

Gringo in Paradise

Whether through lengthy Facebook posts written at 3 am or escorting friends across the border to eat tacos, one of my greatest joys is sharing my passion for Latin America.

While I have traveled South of the Border for over 40 years, it has been the past 5 years that I began my journey in earnest, exploring and learning about Mexico and most recently Colombia.

With my kids, Jack and Cat now in college and being at the tail end of my "career", I am ramping up a new phase in my life. This includes making my passion my vocation.

I hope you join me on my new adventure!

My first time and definitely not my last in Tijuana, shortly after graduating from High School in 1974. I was joined by my brothers Ron, Greg, and sister-in-law Donna.  In the 1980s, during a midnight run to Tijuana, I was randomly given the nickname Pancho by some of my compadres.
I had forgotten I had worn the Pancho sombrero a decade earlier.
