Keeping it low-key, just as planned. I wanted my first days in Thailand to be all about unwinding by the beach, easing into the time zone, adjusting to the weather, and just taking in the new surroundings at a slower pace.
Most mornings started with a walk, a light breakfast, and then some downtime back at the condo. I’ve been nursing a mild cold, so the days were filled with siestas and Netflix—exactly the quiet recharge I needed.
Evenings, though, were for exploring. I’d head out to stroll along Beach Road, with its lively crowds and energy right in the heart of Ao Nang.
My nights ended at Roxy Bar in the RCA Entertainment Center, where I made a new friend in the owner, Lily. We shared a few laughs, she taught me a bit of Thai, and we bonded over adult beverages and competed in a game of chance involving dice, all while watching the nightlife unfold around us.
Traveling solo always leads to these kinds of connections, and to me, those moments are the real highlight.
While part of me felt a little guilty for not island hopping with the other tourists, I reminded myself there’s plenty of time in the next three weeks to explore. Right now, soaking up the local vibe and just chillin’ feels just right.— at Ao Nang Beach, Krabi Thailand.
